Alex's experience enables her to offer outpatient, individualized, psychological care. Alex works with a number of mental health conditions, and provides a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples.
Alex's focus is to help individuals heal, energise, and become aware of their inner strengths. Alex achieves this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customising a treatment plan.
Engaging in psychological treatment can sometimes be a hard and confronting experience. Alex's framework in treatment is to help you grow from your experiences, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
Anxiety is the body's natural response to a major threat. The anxiety response is our natural defence in order to sustain survival. When we experience the anxiety response outside of a real threat, we may need some additional psychological support.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances.
Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Through therapy you overcome these symptoms and be guided through the process of grief and healing.
Experiencing symptoms of depression can be excruciating for individuals. Families too can be impacted upon by depression. Psychological therapy for depression includes CBT and supportive psychotherapy.
Through counseling and treatment, you are able to help recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is condition where a person experiences both obsessions and compulsions (acts performed to alleviate the distress or neutralise the thought).
Sometimes a child or adolescent may experience difficulty attending school or may struggle with homework, routines and academic demands. In such circumstances, Alexandra may consult with school staff, provide an observation or undertake cognitive testing (IQ - testing). For more information regarding school visits, school liaison or cognitive assessments, please contact Alex for availability.
Eating disorders can range from mild issues relating to diet and self image, through to chronic conditions such as anorexia and body dysmorphia. Alexandra can assist an individual or family with any concerns regarding eating issues. Alex works closely with GP's, dieticians and specialists in order to provide best practice with regards to eating disorders treatment.
Conflict in the family unit can both worsen existing mental health issues, and it can also result in the development of mental health issues.
As family and relationships can be complex, therapy sessions can be provided for parents or other family members as a supportive options to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen relationships.

The BRAVE program is a fun program designed to address the hurdles of adolescence (including social anxiety, generalised anxiety, specific phobia) in real time. This group provides adolescents with a chance to realise that other young people their age also struggle with mood and anxiety issues. Topics discussed in this group include: anxiety, depression, peer relationships, teachers, school, relationships.
The more traditional adult therapy is provided in an individual setting and sessions are usually provided in regular intervals. Patients are provided with "homework" between sessions to maximise the therapeutic process.
